Poem

Okay, so I have no idea who wrote this poem, but I love it!

One bright day in the middle of the night,
Two dead boys got up to fight.
Back-to-back they faced each other,
Drew their swords, and shot each other.
A deaf policeman heard the noise,
Came and killed those two dead boys.
If you don't believe this lie is true,
Ask the blind man, because he saw it too.

Man, time flies!

I can't believe that it's already November! I haven't posted since the end of August, and I feel really bad about it. Time has been going too fast and I've been so busy! I'm not quite done being busy, but I will try to post more. Of course, I've said that before, so you probably don't believe me. I just wanted to do a post to mark the 10th anniversary of when me and my husband started dating. November 8th, 1999 we finally decided to go for it! It's been a long ten years, with a lot of ups and downs (currently in a down!), but I still love him and, as far as I know, he still loves me.

Here's to another ten years ahead of us!

Too Little Time

So, as the name of my blog implies, I've got too little time. I haven't posted in a very long time and I feel bad. I'm taking online classes in addition to classes at my local community college in addition to having two little girls and a husband. I'm tired. Anyway, my online classes are over for a month and I'm looking forward to having a little time. I'm still taking Organic Chemistry, Pilates, Yoga, and French though, so forgive me if I disappear. I will be trying my darndest to post more often.
I did want to say that my favorite book just came out in paperback!

The Gargoyle

The Gargoyle

This was a beautiful story that I've raved about before and I highly recommend it. There is some foul language, so this is my disclaimer!

Alice in Wonderland

There is very little in this world that I've ever been more excited for than this! It's my favorite book of all time, so to make a Tim Burton movie out of it is complete genius! I love Tim Burton!

Thank you GreenBeanTeenQueen for posting this!

Trust

So I'm having a couple issues currently regarding trust. When a trust is broken, how do you fix it? Where do you draw the line? When has it gone too far and is unrepairable? I've never dealt with these things before and am having a hell of a time figuring out what to do. When there are kids involved everything possible should be done before deciding that a problem cannot be solved, but how? What am I supposed to do to get back to a relatively stable trust? It will never be the same again, but how do I get to an acceptable place?

Sorry for being so cryptic, but I don't really want to go into detail. If anyone wants to be my counselor and find out the details, e-mail me.

The Treasure Map of Boys

This is my post of the description for The Treasure Map of Boys: Noel, Jackson, Finn, Hutch--and me, Ruby Oliver, it was obtained from Goodreads.com
The Treasure Map of Boys: Noel, Jackson, Finn, Hutch--and me, Ruby Oliver (Ruby Oliver, Book 3)
Ruby is back at Tate Prep, and it's her thirty-seventh week in the state of Noboyfriend. Her panic attacks are bad, her love life is even worse, and what's more: Noel is writing her notes, Jackson is giving her frogs, Gideon is helping her cook, and Finn is making her brownies. Rumors are flying, and Ruby's already-sucky reputation is heading downhill. Not only that, she's also: running a bake sale, learning the secrets of heavymetal therapy, encountering some seriously smelly feet, defending the rights of pygmy goats, and bodyguarding Noel from unwanted advances. In this companion novel to The Boyfriend List and The Boy Book, Ruby struggles to secure some sort of mental health, to understand what constitutes a real friendship, and to find true love--if such a thing exists.

I'll definitely write more after I read it!

I'M SO EXCITED!!!

I just checked the mail and there are no words for how happy I was! I got an ARC! My first ARC from a non-contest source! Straight from the publicist! It was one I wanted so bad too! I've been waiting to read this since last fall!

The Treasure Map of Boys: Noel, Jackson, Finn, Hutch--and me, Ruby Oliver (Ruby Oliver, Book 3)

I'll write more soon, once I've read it! I'm so excited!

Um, I Did a Bad Thing!

Okay this is one of the pictures from yesterdays books!

This is the other one (not pictured are: A Confederacy of Dunces and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society)!

This is my haul from Powells!

This one is Bookmooch and Paperbackswap!

This one was the other Hastings this week!

So Hastings had this coupon. Buy 2 get the 3rd YA book free. Big trouble. In addition to my MCAT study guide (which I will just say was far too expensive) I left the store with 14 other books! 14! And that's not to mention all the other books I've aquired in the past two weeks via Powells (yay!), more Hastings, Bookmooch, and Paperback swap! I had to take a few pictures to get all of them in!

Back!

I'm back from Portland and I had a blast! The girls were both so happy and enjoyed themselves thoroughly! I wish we could have stayed!

Classes started and I'm taking Yoga, Piano, and Sociology of Marriage and Family. Yoga is four days a week for an hour and a half, so I should get rid of some of my shapes.

I'm reading Lord of Misrule. The fifth book in Rachel Caine's Morganville Vampire series. I'm truly loving this series. It's gone by so fast! I read the first four in no time at all! There are so many great books coming out soon though, it's going to be hard to get all of them!
Here's some great ones coming in the rest of this year:
Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink
Blue Moon (The Immortals Book 2) by Allison Noel
Catching Fire (Sequel to The Hunger Games) by Suzanne Collins
Fade Out (Morganville Vampires Book 7) by Rachel Caine
Blood Promise (Vampire Academy Book 4) by Richelle Mead
Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen
The Van Allen Legacy (A Blue Bloods Novel) by Melissa De La Cruz
Killers (Pretty Little Liars #6) by Sara Shepherd
Treasure Map of Boys (Roo 3) by E. Lockhart

So Many Books, Too Little Time!

VACATION!!!!!

So, I get to go on my very first vacation in 4 years! I'm so excited! We're going to Portland and Seattle!! It's going to be so fun! If anyone has been to either of these places and has any suggestions for me, let me know!

Maybe

This is all of my Pez dispensers spread out all over the carpet!

Okay, so I didn't get the Chemistry Research Assistant job that I wanted. It really sucks because I totally thought I would. I decided I'd just take a couple classes instead, so I'm taking Piano, Yoga, and Sociology of Marriage and Family. Hopefully it'll be a good semester.

On a better note, I applied to Portland State. They have on campus housing for families, so I can apply for that if I get in! And they have a child care program like the one the kids are in right now. I'm wishing and hoping that something finally goes right. Just gotta suck it up and save money!

Summer "Vacation"

So I'm done with school until June 8th. I've read three books in the past week, and my kids are driving me crazy already!
The thing about daycare is that you get out of practice with your own kids. It sucks. You get them back at the end of the school year and don't know what to do with them! Plus, I think Sadie may have just hit her terrible twos!
AHHHH...They call it summer vacation, but is it really a vacation?

Oh, and I got a B in Physics! A's in the rest of my classes! I'm so proud!

May 5th!!

So Melissa walker and Susane Colasanti both have books coming out on the 5th of May. So of course they're having a contest! You can go to Melissa's blog to win Susane's prize and Susane's blog to win Melissa's prize. How fun is that?!

I've already got Melissa's book pre-ordered, but I'm going to have to pick up Susane's!

Tuesday, April 28, 2009

So I actually got to take a nap today!

Okay, so the good news is Sadie is better, Lena is getting better, and I'm not getting any worse. School is almost over too, so I'm excited about that. My chem teacher told me on Monday that in order to keep my A in the class I have to get at least a 60% on my final. Hmmmm...I think I can do it! Physics is the class I'm really worried about. I need to get at least a C to be happy. I just pray that I don't have to take it again! I updated my Facebook with some new pics of the kids, so I guess I'll post a couple here too!

Someday!

Someday I'll be back to regular blogging! I've been so busy! My baby girl turned one on the 8th and we had a party on Saturday! Of course, now she's sicker than a dog. She's very sad and pathetic and there's never anything you can do for babies these days!
I'm also trying to wrap up the semester, including crappy physics which I hate passionately! The good news is that I might get a job as a research assistant for my Chem teacher over the summer at a beautiful $12 an hour (which I could definitely use!). Well, that's it for now! I'll catch up later!

Friday, March 27, 2009

BIRTHDAY!!!

I'm so excited! Lena is going to be one on April 8th! We get to have a fun party and everything! My little baby is getting too big! What am I going to do now?!?!

Spring Break!

Okay, so by Spring Break I actually mean break from school to spend time with the girls. It's a little hard to get used to again, having relied on them going to school for so long. We had fun today though! Sadie has so much energy, Lena is learning things so fast! It's incredible!

I've been AWOL from the internet lately due to mid-terms and other school stuff, so this is my first post in a while. I haven't had time to read or anything.

Right now, I'm in the middle of two different books.
The Story of Edgar Sawtelle: A Novel and Fly Me to the Moon

I'm listening to the audio book for Edgar Sawtelle and am really enjoying it, and Alyson Noel is an amazingly entertaining writer, so I'm loving Fly Me to the Moon. Well, I'm off.

(Actually, I just thought of something I could share that I've been doing. I'm learning to play the piano!)

I got this meme from Steph Su Reads, who got it from Chelsea at The Page Flipper. It's going to be a little pathetic, because I've just started reading teen reads within the last year.

Lots and lots of books!

Some days I feel like people judge me. Today is one of those days. I mooch or swap books and all of my books arrive at the same time! Today was a day just like that! I got:
This Lullaby, Sexus (Rosy Crucifixion, Book One), and Second Helpings: A Novelfrom Paperbackswap.
Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, One Hundred Years of Solitude, and You Know You Love Me (Gossip Girl, Book 2) from BookMooch.
The Elite and In Too Deep: An Elite Novel that I won from Sarah's Random Musings.
Right now I'm living with my in-laws and when I get this many books at once, I'm pretty sure they're judging my spending habits. It kinda takes the fun out of getting all those books in the mail! Well, maybe not!

The Gargoyle

So, I finished this book the other day and now I feel as though I should tell everyone I know to read it! It was slow going at first, but as the book went on I grew to love it and I couldn't stop reading it! I very much recommend it to all!

The Gargoyle
The Gargoyle

Here's the Goodreads description:

An extraordinary debut novel of love that survives the fires of hell and transcends the boundaries of time

The narrator of The Gargoyle is a very contemporary cynic, physically beautiful and sexually adept, who dwells in the moral vacuum that is modern life. As the book opens, he is driving along a dark road when he is distracted by what seems to be a flight of arrows. He crashes into a ravine and suffers horrible burns over much of his body. As he recovers in a burn ward, undergoing the tortures of the damned, he awaits the day when he can leave the hospital and commit carefully planned suicide—for he is now a monster in appearance as well as in soul.

A beautiful and compelling, but clearly unhinged, sculptress of gargoyles by the name of Marianne Engel appears at the foot of his bed and insists that they were once lovers in medieval Germany. In her telling, he was a badly injured mercenary and she was a nun and scribe in the famed monastery of Engelthal who nursed him back to health. As she spins their tale in Scheherazade fashion and relates equally mesmerizing stories of deathless love in Japan, Iceland, Italy, and England, he finds himself drawn back to life—and, finally, in love. He is released into Marianne's care and takes up residence in her huge stone house. But all is not well. For one thing, the pull of his past sins becomes ever more powerful as the morphine he is prescribed becomes ever more addictive. For another, Marianne receives word from God that she has only twenty-seven sculptures left to complete—and her time on earth will be finished.

Already an international literary sensation, the Gargoyle is an Inferno for our time. It will have you believing in the impossible.

Your Blog is Fabulous!

Marie from cupcake witch gave me an award!!
If you get this award you have to:
1~Say five things you are addicted to.
2~Nominate 5 other bloggers/people with this award.

Hmmm...
5 Things I'm Addicted To:
1- I, like Marie, am also addicted to coffee. I don't see any way not to be with two kids!
2- Target. Shopping at Target balances me. I love Target!
3- School. I should be done by now, but I'm not. I can't really decide what I want to be when I "grow up", so I just keep going to school!
4- Watching tv shows on dvd. Buffy, Charmed, Veronica Mars...I could go on and on.
5- My kids. I don't know what I would do without them! I probably wouldn't exist (at least that's what it feels like).

The 5 people I nominate for this award are:
1- Steph from Reviewer X. Because I love someone who will speak their mind regardless of what other people think!
2- Alea from Pop Culture Junkie. Because she's great and her blog is great and there is no more I can say!
3- Sarah from Sarah's Random Musings. She's a fun blogger!
4- Taren from The Chick Manifesto. Because she's fun and quirky and we like a lot of the same things!
5- Melissa Walker. Because she's Melissa Walker and I'm Melissa Walker. Melissa Walker's are great!

So thank you for the award Marie!!

I'm Tired

I will start off with this. First, I put those pics of the kids on there because they make me happy when they're happy.
And I will continue on with this: I got my March issue of Elle in the mail and this is what I have to say: Why can't we all look like that after having a baby? It's just not fair! But on to other things.

I am so tired! My 10 month old is sick. This means I get no sleep. My 2 year old would not take a nap today and proceeded to throw the hugest fit I've ever seen from her. Not fun! My husband has been super busy at work this week with a computer virus on the loose, so he's no company When I said something to him this morning about not ever seeing him, he said "I watched a movie with you last night". This movie that he's referring to is Choke, and he made it through 17 minutes before he fell asleep.

I should be doing homework, but I'm not.
I could be reading, but I'm not.

I just want to sleep and never get up. It sucks, and now I'm writing the most boring post ever. I think tonight I'll put the kids to bed, get a blanket, and watch as much Nip/Tuck as I can possibly stand (which may not be much, considering where it's been heading). Laziness. Maybe I'll do something tomorrow.

Happy Valentines Day!!

Happy Valentines Day to all!! I decided that since both the kids were napping that I'd take this opportunity to post a lovely Valentines wish to all. Of course, I don't know if you want one from me. I'm the mom that forgets to bring Valentines for her kids' class, only remembering when I pick them up and find their giant bag of Valentines from the moms that didn't forget! Anyway, I'm sending my wish anyway!

Still trying to decide what to read next! I got a box from Amazon with Dust of 100 Dogs and I'm thinking about reading that!

Book Rut!

I'm totally in a book rut! I've got so much going on with school and the kids that I can't for the life of me find something I really want to read. I'm not lacking for books, being that I just bought a ton and joined paperbackswap and bookmooch. I just need to find something amazing to read! The Heretic's Daughter went too fast and now I'm stuck! Help! I'm part of the way through The Elite and part of the way through Shopaholic Ties the Knot. I just need some motivation!
We even had a snow day today and I didn't get a single thing done!

Intense!

I just finished reading The Heretic's Daughter by Kathleen Kent. I have no words to explain it! The intensity of this story is amazing! I've never had this kind of a reaction to a book. I had such intense feelings while reading this, that at some points I almost started crying (of course, I'm kind of a baby anyway). The Salem Witch Trials are such a horrible part of this country's history, but I've never really looked into it that well. While being a historical fiction, it still holds so much of the true events of the time, having been researched for five years before being written. I highly recommend reading this book!

Like I Said

So the title of this blog is A Mom With Too Little Time. This is demonstrated by the fact that I haven't posted anything since the 13th. So school started and I have even less time than usual. I'm taking not only the second General Chemistry class, but also Physics, Biology, and a piano class.
Needless to say, I've been a little overwhelmed!
The good news is my kiddos love their school! Sadie is so happy going to school that for the first few days it was hard to get her to leave. I'm so glad they're enjoying it! I'm going to get into a better routine though and I vow to keep up with this blog! But for now, that's all I've got!

"Melissa wears the Isabella Oliver wrap dress in crimson" (Oh, pretty)

Type in "[your name] was arrested for" in Google Search.
Oh, this is a good one (mind you this was from one link) "melissa was arrested for murder, planting a pipe bomb, driving with a suspended license, driving while intoxicated, posting nude pictures of herself…" (This actually came from a blog that was doing this same meme)

Type in "[your name] loves" in Google Search.
"Melissa loves Robot Jelly Shoes" (I've never even heard of Robot Jelly Shoes)

Well, that was fun!

The V.C. Andrews “Read the Good-Trash” Movement

While I won't be participating, I wanted to recognize Steph and Taren for their V.C. Andrews "Read the Good-Trash" Movement. I read My Sweet Audrina when I was in the 5th grade on the recommendation of my long-time best friend Alison. I LOVED it (although, I'm not all that sure it's appropriate for a 5ht grader!) Anyway, Steph and Taren are having this challenge in honor of V.C. Andrews, so go by their blogs and check out the challenge to see if you want to participate!
Also, Liviana at In Bed With Books
is having a great contest. In Too Deep, the second in Jennifer Banash's The Elite series, is being released and Liviana is giving a copy away. Get over to her blog and check out the contest!
